How to view WordPress changes without putting it on a server?

Concern by 1GK4: How to see WordPress modifications without placing it on a server?
I’m using the “Sketchy Topic”
So I’m a novice in webdesign and I wished to mess close to with the term push templates. The one particular I downloaded was filled one CSS file and numerous PHP files.

I was wondering: How do I see the modifications I have produced? Do I need a distinct software to open the template as a whole?

Many thanks for all our responses, remember to clarify as a lot as achievable (I am a novice).

Many thanks once more.

Could someone quickly introduce WordPress for me? I’m confused what is free and what is not free there?

Question by eguru: Could someone quickly introduce WordPress for me? I’m confused what is free and what is not free there?
I don’t wanna pay for it because blogger is free but I want to have one blog on wordpress however I am confused about what is free and what is not. Such as some themes are free but customizing them is not free?

Best answer:

Answer by Ask Steve
You can have a “free” WordPress blog @ wordpress.com. It comes with the basic theme available and a few plugins. The terms of service for wordpress.com limit you to non-commercial personal use of the blog and expressly forbid you from using it for profit (and yes they have closed down accounts for it)
Blogger is also “free” and although they do allow some use of Google AdSense blogger is also not intended for commercial use.
The biggest drawback in either situation is that you DO NOT own any of your content. In the end on either format they can shut your site down without warning anytime they want. Although in both case you can move your content to a format you do own you can not do so if your site has been deemed to have broken the TOS and shut down.
On the other hand WordPress hosted on your own hosting account is free to use with no restrictions. This version of WP comes from wordpress.org (although in most cases your host provider will already have it ready for you to install for free as a part of your host account) From there you will find that there are literally thousands of free themes to choose from as well as a whole lot of paid ones should you need. With a hosted WP you can install and use any plugin you want and you will find that there is pretty much a plugin that will do anything you are looking for.

Hope that helps a little!

Is there any FREE wordpress plugin that will enchant my hosting for wordpress with multisite?

Question by Koen: Is there any FREE wordpress plugin that will enchant my hosting for wordpress with multisite?
Like paying for more space and maybe bandwidth.
Or paying for plugins and themes.
Its mostly so I can receive money.
IT SHOULD BE FREE! So please do not post any payed plugins!
Well I mean MAKE money. Like selling wordpress thru multisite. I want to host
PS I am sorry for my English

Answer by Inda Cloud
Enchant your hosting? Only enchants I know of are in world of warcraft.

WordPress doesn’t need a plugin to be multisite.

http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

Your host will need to have certain requirements though, which a free host probably won’t allow you to do.

Question by greatravian2005: How to attach a WordPress CMS to already built html website?
What i am actually trying to find is that how can we use wordpress for non-blog websites. I have been told that websites for instance www.birthcenter.net, and www.dallasbbq.com are using WordPress at their backend. I want to ask for any tutorial which could enable me to create such non-blog websites, using wordpress at their backend.

Hi
Most of them are custmized WordPress using plugins you can find at http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ and they have customized the themes for them.

If you don’t know php very well, I’d recommend you hire someone to integrate the plugins for you and custmize the themes.

The much more free a web site internet hosting becomes, the more most likely that they make income off of your web site by positioning their own advertisements and not making it possible for your ads. Just felt I essential to give you a heads up. And you are conversing about conserving 14 cents a day. What is the genuine cause why you are not creating the site? You can do a element time evening/weekend task for a single thirty day period and make a whole lot a lot more cash than adverts on a put up key site more than a yr.

How do I set up GoDaddy with WordPress?

Question by Derek: How do I set up GoDaddy with WordPress?
I am on a Mac and already created my WordPress site locally with MAMP. Am I able to simply upload the folder to GoDaddy after I register for a domain and hosting? How would I go about doing this.

Best answer:

Answer by Greg
Hi Derek,

I use the same setup, although I use GoDaddy for domain registration only.

I would setup a fresh install of WordPress at the host of your choice. That would mean uploading a fresh set of WordPress files and installing WordPress on your live site.

GoDaddy has their own script for installing WordPress. You could use that as well.

If you have significant content on your local site, you can export it in WordPress to a file and then import that file into your online site. See the Tools menu in WordPress for this.

You probably know that most of the settings in WordPress, including plug-in and theme settings, are in the database.

I have made the mistake of exporting and importing the WordPress database. One problem you’ll have with that is your URL’s will be incorrect on your live site, since they reference localhost instead of your live domain. That’s why I recommend you start with a fresh site.

I haven’t looked, but there may be a plug-in that will allow you to backup an entire site, including the database, so you can copy the site to another location.

On Hosting:
GoDaddy is a great domain registrar, but they are not a good long term choice for a web host (in my opinion). I have seen far to many cases of people having issues with GoDaddy hosting. There is some logic to keeping your domain registration and hosting separate as well.

A good “shared hosting” service would be a better choice, if you can afford it. I recommend and use Hostgator http://www.hostgator.com. Their cheapest plan is around $ 8/month.

I hope this helps answer your question.

Best of luck on all of your future projects.
